The boy was six years old when a woman lured him away while he was playing with his brother. She flew him to the other side of the country, where he ended up with a couple who raised him as if he were their own son. He grew up, fought in the Vietnam War, worked as a firefighter, and had children and grandchildren of his own.
Throughout the years, his family continued to search for him. When his biological mother died in 2005, she was convinced that her son was still alive.
In 2020, his niece Alida began investigating the case again "for fun". Through DNA tests and the internet, she managed to track down her uncle four years later, and with the help of the police, he was reunited with his family.
In late June this year, Luis Armando finally met his brother again, 73 years after being abducted.
They hugged each other for a really long time. Then they just sat and talked, says the niece.
The meeting was the first of two between the brothers before older brother Roger passed away in August.
The rediscovered Luis still lives on the US East Coast, but according to his niece, he does not want to go public with his story. She says she hopes that the story can help others find missing relatives.
My advice is: Don't give up.
