International airlines have cancelled a large number of flights to Lebanon since the crisis escalated between Hezbollah and Israel.

Earlier, many airlines had already reduced air traffic to mainly Lebanon, but several companies have also avoided flying to Tel Aviv in Israel or Tehran, Iran's capital.

The company Emirates, as well as its sister company Flydubai, announced on Tuesday that flights to Beirut are being temporarily stopped. Qatar Airways, which flies to Beirut twice a day, is also cancelling departures to Lebanon's capital.

European companies such as Air France and Lufthansa have already decided to cancel traffic until October – in Lufthansa's case until October 26. The German company's flights to Tel Aviv and Tehran are being cancelled until mid-October.

British Airways joined the list and cancelled flights to Israel until Thursday.
