A 17-year-old boy is detained on probable grounds suspected of murdering a boy who was shot to death in Bagarmossen in southern Stockholm last week.

The boy is from northern Sweden and had absconded from a youth home before the murder.

The 17-year-old is also suspected of serious weapons offenses. Prosecutor Daniel Insulander does not want to comment on whether they believe he held the murder weapon.

But is he considered the perpetrator?

Yes, that's my claim at present. Then we'll see if the evidence is sufficient, says Insulander.

The 17-year-old denies the crime, according to his lawyer Joacim Wallgren during Tuesday's detention hearing in Södertörn's district court.

He was arrested over the weekend after being tracked down through technical investigations and witness statements, according to the prosecutor. He was then absconding from a youth home where he was placed according to the law with special provisions for the care of young people, LVU.

Do you suspect links to gang criminality?

Purely bluntly, one can say that if it's about firearms violence, the suspicion points in that direction.

Two other individuals who were previously detained in the case have been released. The suspicions remain, however, according to the prosecutor.

The focus of the investigation is now, among other things, mapping the victim's and the suspects' activities, technical investigations, and compilations of surveillance footage, he continues.

They are also interested in witness statements from the incident.

It could be if someone saw suspicious individuals in connection with the crime, says Daniel Insulander.

The boy who was shot dead, late on Tuesday evening last week, was between 15 and 18 years old and died at the hospital from his injuries.
