He is 99 years old and enthusiastic. And he has decided to live long enough to vote for his party colleague Kamala Harris in the autumn's presidential election.

My grandfather can't wait to vote for Kamala Harris, says the US's former President Jimmy Carter's grandson Jason Carter at the Democrats' convention and is met with cheers.

He wishes he could be here tonight.

The former President, who turns 100 on October 1, has been receiving palliative care at home in Plains, Georgia, for over a year. Jason Carter, who is also a politician and lawyer, says that his grandfather's body is weak but his spirit stronger than ever.

His legacy is about the people he has touched and the good deeds he has done. Kamala Harris will carry it on.

Democrat Harris faces Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election on November 5. Early voting in Georgia, considered a swing state, begins on October 15.

Jimmy Carter was President between 1977 and 1981. He is the oldest living former President.
