One of the largest factions that left the former Farc guerrilla, Segunda Marquetalia, agrees to an agreement with the Colombian government on a ceasefire and the release of hostages, the two parties announce in a statement.

The talks in Venezuela's capital Caracas began on Monday and are the third under President Gustavo Petro, who is trying to put an end to 60 years of conflict between the country's security forces, guerrilla groups, paramilitary groups, and drug gangs.

The start date for the agreement is not announced. The statement says that the unilateral ceasefire does not limit the national security forces' "constitutional and legal powers".

The group has also agreed not to continue being armed or wearing uniforms in urban areas or on roads, on land or at sea.
