Conflicting information about anti-Semitic chat

Four laughing emojis. So responded Malmö FF's team captain Pontus Jansson when one of the accused persons in the hooligan case wrote "hell victory and screw Jew" to him in a group chat, according to the investigation.

But according to Jansson's lawyer, it may have been omitted posts from the chat in the investigation – and the prosecutor will check to ensure that the extracts match.

Prosecutor Henrik Nordquist has previously said that Jansson is not suspected of a crime or contributed to the grossly antisemitic messages written in the group chat. A chat that forms part of the evidence in a trial where, among other things, twelve people have been charged after a hooligan brawl.

According to the investigation, one of the accused writes the following to Jansson: "Ponne, hell victory and screw Jew". Half a minute later, Jansson, who is called "Ponne", responds with four laughing emojis.

"Hell victory" is a common expression among neo-Nazis and is a translation of the Nazi slogan "sieg heil".

Pontus Jansson's lawyer Viktor Isero says to TT that there is another version of the chat in social media and that what he calls the "original chat" puts the message in a different context.

He says that it "appears to have been omitted messages" in what is included in the investigation. On the internet, a screenshot is spreading of what is claimed to be the original, with several posts between the antisemitic utterance and Jansson's response.

Prosecutor Henrik Nordquist says he takes the information seriously and will check with his investigators on Tuesday morning. The mobile phones are still in custody.

If it turns out that posts are missing, it will cast a shadow over the entire investigation.

The accused claim they do not have antisemitic views, but that it is a sort of internal jargon in the group.

Pontus Jansson is being internally investigated by Malmö FF and apologized on Sunday on Instagram. He said he joined the chat group during his time in England to help the club get support.

"Anyway, within the framework of this chat group, others have used a jargon that I do not stand behind and strongly distance myself from. I have left the group but should have left the group a long time ago", he writes.

TT is seeking a comment from Malmö FF.
