Crystal Gala on a Smaller Scale Tonight

It's supposed to be TV-Sweden's big night, but the gala will be smaller than before when the Kristallen Awards are presented. The entire gala is not broadcast live - instead, the winners are announced in "Efter fem" on TV4.

The stars of TV Sweden gather at Cirkus in Stockholm tonight, but it will be less glamorous this year – since TV award shows no longer attract enough viewers.

In recent years, both the music industry's Grammis Awards and the Football Awards have disappeared completely from linear TV – and now Kristallen is being arranged in a reduced version without its own spot in the TV schedule.

Tilde de Paula will instead lead a special episode of "Efter fem" at 8 pm on TV4, where the award ceremony will be shown. And when the gala is over, SVT will broadcast a post-gala discussion.

The awards will still be handed out, under the leadership of the gala's host Arantxa Àlvarez.

21 awards will be distributed during the evening. Siblings Bianca and Benjamin Ingrosso are nominated for two and one award each, respectively. Their mother Pernilla Wahlgren can become both the female presenter of the year and win an award for the reality program of the year, "Wahlgrens värld".

As usual, the viewers will vote for several of the award winners, including in the category of viewers' favorite program. There, the competition is between "Terese i kassan" (SVT), "Svenska truckers" (TV3/Viaplay), "Bäst i test" (TV4), "Spökjakt" (Kanal 5/Max), and "Young royals" (Netflix).

All nominations can be found at www.kristallen.tv.
