Danish Minister: "Do not want Swedish conditions"

On Thursday, two Swedish teenage boys were arrested for two separate shootings in Denmark. At the same time, the Danish police stated that young Swedes are being recruited on social media to commit crimes for payment in the country. "It is deeply unacceptable", writes Denmark's Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard (S) to TT.

In the middle of June, two Swedish teenage boys were arrested for attempted murder outside Copenhagen. On Thursday, two more Swedish teenagers were arrested for two separate shootings in Denmark on Wednesday.

Now, Denmark's Justice Minister is commenting on the recent arrests of Swedish teenagers in the country.

"I take a very serious view of the events we have seen and the information from the police. It is deeply unacceptable that Swedes and persons residing in Sweden are engaging in serious criminality in Denmark," he writes to TT.

"We do not want Swedish conditions in Denmark."

Contact with Swedish authorities

Furthermore, Hummelgaard writes that they have good cooperation with Swedish authorities, and that they have good conditions to combat gang criminality, referring to the country's so-called "gang packages".

"We have recently introduced a new and very comprehensive package from a political standpoint, which also strengthens cross-border crime. As soon as possible, I will meet with the National Police Commissioner to discuss the situation, and if the police need more tools."

Suspects for attempted murder

On Thursday, a 17-year-old boy from Sweden was arrested for four weeks, suspected of attempted murder after a shooting in Kolding on Wednesday.

Just a few hours earlier, another Swedish boy, 16 years old, was arrested for a shooting on Blågårds Plads on Nørrebro in Copenhagen, also on Wednesday. He is suspected of weapons possession and attempted murder of an unidentified person.
