The Swedish orienteering star Tove Alexandersson got a solid revenge after Saturday's disappointing fourth place in the medium distance at the European Championship in Hungary.
On Sunday's long distance, she was completely superior and took home the European Championship gold.
The long distance was the race I looked forward to the most, so it feels really cool that I could perform so well here. Yesterday was really a wake-up call, so it was good to get that race in before so I could do a better race today, says Alexandersson to SVT.
Down to the silver medalist Simona Aebersold from Switzerland, Alexandersson had a margin of more than four minutes.
Third place went to Andrine Benjaminsen, Norway, beaten by almost seven minutes by the Swedish gold medalist.
In the men's competition, Max Peter Bejmer seemed to be on his way to a European Championship silver - but after the finish, the Swede was disqualified for taking the wrong control.
You get so damn tired, says Bejmer.
Instead, Emil Svensk became the best Swedish athlete on a fourth place. The Norwegian Kasper Harlem Fosser won.
