Modo's Revenge: Big Win Over Malmö

In the SHL premiere, Modo lost 0-5 and Malmö won 4-1. When they met in Örnsköldsvik, the roles were reversed. Modo crushed Malmö 5-1. Nice to be able to give back to the fans, says Måns Carlsson.

Home advantage means a lot to Modo. And it was a revenge-hungry Ö-vik team that, after the 0-5 premiere against Örebro, set off directly against Malmö. It was 3-0 already after 14.08 in the first period.

Terrible. No shots, no close calls, everything was the opposite of last time, says Malmö coach Tomas Kollar to TV4 Play after the first period.

Malmö won the SHL premiere against Skellefteå with 4-1, only to then collapse completely in the first period against Modo. In the second period, they stepped up properly and dominated greatly, but without scoring any goals.

In the end of the period, Modo made it both 4-0 and 5-0.

It feels like our period for 17 minutes, yet they win it with 2-0. It feels crap, says Malmö's Johan Olofsson to TV4 Play.

Goalkeeper change

For the third period, Malmö changed goalkeeper. The Finnish newcomer Henri Kiviaho, who was recruited when Marek Langhamer got injured just before the premiere, came in instead of Daniel Marmenlind.

Kiviaho kept a clean sheet, but Malmö only got a consolation goal.

It was fun to be able to give back to the fans who traveled far to Örebro, and win here, says Modo's newcomer Måns Carlsson to TV4 Play.

The former Mora player now got to score his very first SHL goal.

It's huge, something you've dreamed of and strived for in many years.

Brynäs took three points

Otherwise to note from Thursday evening in SHL:

+ Severely injury-plagued HV71 got another player on the injury list before the away game against Frölunda, star André Petersson. The Smålanders fought well anyway and had 1-1 after the first period. But the Gothenburg team won in the end with 3-1, which gave HV71 their third straight loss.

+ The returnee to SHL, Brynäs, lost the premiere but won now away against Örebro with 3-0. Newcomer Charles-Édouard D'astous scored a goal in his first match for the Gävle team.

+ Luleå is the only team with full points after three played matches. It became an away win against Linköping with 4-2.
