Already after just over four minutes of play, Tingsryd's forward Linus Hedman was heavily tackled, lost his helmet, and fell to the ice, where he lay for half an hour while receiving care. He was then taken to the hospital, writes Smålandsposten.

According to information from Barometern-OT, Hedman was awake and able to talk when he left the arena in an ambulance.

After a 45-minute game interruption, it was decided to cancel the match.

The players didn't think there was any reason to continue playing. Half the team saw him lying there unconscious, there was pulsing blood, and we didn't get any contact with him at first, says Tingsryd's coach Arto Miettinen to Barometern.

In a situation like this, hockey comes 105th. It's not the most important thing. We hope and believe it will be okay. The last reports we got were that it's a head and neck injury. We hope it will turn out well in the end.

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association later announced that the match will be replayed at a later date.
