Olsson directs harsh criticism at the association leadership

The criticism from employees against the Swedish Football Association as an employer has received significant attention. Now, among others, Lars-Christer Olsson is delivering a harsh criticism against the federation's leadership. He believes that it is engaging in "intimidation tactics". It is a leadership that does not align with what I stand for, says Olsson to TV4 Football Channel.

Olsson has worked from a number of top positions within football, nationally and internationally, for a long time.

Together with Jörgen Eriksson and Anneli Larsson, who have both sat on the association board, Olsson questions in an open letter how the association is managed under its current chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt and general secretary Andrea Möllerberg.

Went out broadly

It is TV4 Football Channel that has taken part of the open letter that has gone out broadly in Swedish football.

In the letter, they write:

"Chairman of the Swedish Football Association (SvFF), Fredrik Reinfeldt, explains the crisis situation in Swedish football by saying that previous leadership groups have been short-sighted and the general secretary (GS), Andrea Möllerberg, runs the operation as if she were the CEO of a crisis-ridden listed company instead of a popular movement. We question both the reasoning and method and want to share our thoughts. For us, the leadership is not compatible with the sports movement and its values. We have difficulty seeing a crisis as deep as the leadership seems to see in the operation. We are instead worried about the potential consequences of this leadership."

Different picture of the economy

Olsson and his co-authors believe that the association's economy is stronger than it is presented.

"We believe that the scare tactics used by the current leadership, exaggerating the deteriorated economic situation for SvFF, are incorrect and must be checked when the movement now closes the accounts for the past two years' operations."

"It would also be interesting to know in which areas the previous leadership was short-sighted. This considering the previous leadership's international experience, anchoring among district representatives, and insight into elite operations that formed the basis for the decisions."

Lars-Christer Olsson ran in the last chairman election but lost to Fredrik Reinfeldt. He tells TV4 Football Channel that he does not intend to run in the election next March.

Robert Falck, former chairman of AIK, has announced his candidacy. Fredrik Reinfeldt has not announced whether he will stand for re-election.
