FBI: Trump to be questioned about the assassination attempt

The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has agreed to be heard by the FBI about the assassination attempt he was subjected to at an election rally earlier in July. We want to hear his perspective on what he observed, says agent Kevin Rojek at the FBI.

This is about a regular interrogation in the investigation with Trump as the injured party, emphasizes Rojek.

Trump, who was lightly injured in the ear during the shooting, expects the interrogations to take place on Thursday, he says in an interview with Fox News.

The FBI has already conducted more than 450 interrogations to get a picture of the shooter Matthew Crooks, who was killed by a sniper after shooting at Trump at an election rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

Crooks is described as an intelligent but withdrawn 20-year-old with few friends. His primary social circle is said to have been his family, according to the FBI.

His parents have been "extremely cooperative" during the investigation, says Rojek, adding that they do not seem to have had any idea about their son's assassination plans.

The FBI has not revealed any theory about a motive for the assassination attempt. But the investigation suggests that the 20-year-old planned one or more attacks several months before the shots in Butler. He is said to have, under a fictitious name, bought chemicals to build the three explosive devices found in his car and his home.

Before the deed, he is said to have searched online for information about both Trump and President Joe Biden. Additionally, he made searches on previous mass shootings, homemade explosive devices, the assassination attempt on Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico in the spring, and the murder of US President John F Kennedy in 1963.
