Female Player Signings: Increase of Over 100 Percent

More transfers than before on the men's side. But it's on the women's side in football that the records are being broken properly. The clubs have bought players for more than double the amount of money as last year – and the number of acquisitions has increased by 32 percent.

The International Football Federation (Fifa) has compiled the summer transfer window's player movements, comparing them to those of last summer.

In percentage terms, it's the women's side that has seen the most activity. The number of signings was 1,125, an increase of 31.9 percent.

The equivalent of 69.7 million kronor was spent on women's players – an increase of more than 100 percent compared to last year, when 31 million kronor was spent.

However, this is a drop in the ocean compared to the transfer sums on the men's side. There, international transfers have cost the equivalent of 66.3 billion kronor. This is a decrease of almost 10 billion kronor.

The biggest transfer – when Kylian Mbappé left Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid – did not involve any transfer fees, as Mbappé was out of contract. He is said to have personally received between 1.1 and 1.7 billion kronor to sign with the Spanish giant.

The biggest transfer sum of the summer was paid by Atlético Madrid for Manchester City's Julián Alvarez – 703 million kronor.

The number of international transfers increased on the men's side by almost 5 percent to 11,000.
