A woman who previously worked as an analyst at the CIA and was employed by the White House in the USA is suspected of having worked for the South Korean government.

She is said to have received compensation in the form of designer handbags, expensive dinners, and other luxury goods.

According to the indictment filed with a federal court in New York, the woman allegedly disclosed information from the US government to the South Korean intelligence service.

South Korean officials allegedly gave her a Louis Vuitton handbag worth approximately 36,000 kronor, one from Bottega Veneta worth around 31,000 kronor, and a Dolce & Gabbana coat worth around 30,000 kronor.

In addition to the CIA, the suspect also worked at the White House's National Security Council. The work for South Korea is said to have begun in 2013.

The woman's lawyer denies the allegations. The South Korean Foreign Ministry tells the AFP news agency that it is "not appropriate to comment on cases where foreign legal proceedings are ongoing."
