"Forsberg: 'Maybe not a role that suits me'"

When Swedish national football team in the fall went into one of its darkest periods, Emil Forsberg and Robin Olsen decided to make a statement: The offensive midfielder and goalkeeper were pillars of the team under Janne Andersson's leadership and before that under Erik Hamrén's last stint as national coach. With Jon Dahl Tomasson's arrival and his ideas about how football should be played, everything is new for Olsen. He is set in goal and tonight's national match against Serbia at Friends Arena will be his 75th. Forsberg, on the other hand, is not a clear choice for Tomasson. He did not start against Portugal in March or against Denmark on Wednesday. The Dane has during the year's two gatherings both times pointed out Forsberg's long rest periods (from New York) as a reason. More likely is Forsberg's own conclusion: He has no doubts about his ability. Jon Dahl Tomasson seems to see Forsberg more as a player who can come in and change the face of a match. With 88 national team caps, Forsberg is the team's most capped player.
