The four men who were arrested on suspicion of rape against two young girls in an apartment in Borås on Wednesday night have been released.
The degree of suspicion has decreased somewhat during the initial investigative measures and I therefore did not consider that there were sufficient grounds to proceed with detention, says chief prosecutor Caroline Fransson.
Two girls alerted the police on Wednesday night and reported that they had been subjected to rape by four boys in an apartment in Borås. The police went to the scene and were able to apprehend the men, who were still in the apartment.
After the initial interrogations, the four boys were arrested. But late on Thursday, the prosecutor decided to release all of them.
The suspicion remains and the investigation will continue, says Caroline Fransson.
