Nearer to half of Germans are anxious about the risk of terrorist attacks during the European Football Championship, according to a new survey from Yougov and Sinus. 12 percent of those surveyed say they are very worried, while 35 percent are somewhat worried.
At the beginning of May, the US State Department adjusted its travel recommendations for Germany. The US advises travelers to be cautious and warns that terrorist groups are planning attacks in the country, where large sports events are among the targets.
In the survey, which was conducted from April 18 to 25 with over 2,000 respondents in an online panel, a third of respondents say they look forward to the championships, while 11 percent are against the event.
For most people, 46 percent, the hosting of the European Football Championship does not play a bigger role.
