Ludvig Åberg got a good start on the PGA tournament The Memorial in Ohio.

The Swedish golf star landed on a tied third place after the first round.

Åberg played around 68 strokes, four under par, after an impressive finish with three birdies on the last six holes.

The Swede made a bogey on the 12th hole and was then -1, but came back strongly and made three consecutive birdies after that. In total, it was five birdies and a bogey for the 24-year-old from Eslöv.

World number one Scottie Scheffler, USA, played the same ball and finished the first round in second place, five under par.

Canadian Adam Hadwin leads after a 66-round, six under par.

Alex Norén played 70 strokes, two under par, and is tied for 12th place.

Ludvig Åberg has been plagued by meniscus problems this spring and missed the cut in the PGA championships, which was his last tournament. Since then, the Swedish world six has had two weeks off.

Now, however, a hectic period begins with three tournaments in a row, including the major US Open, which will be held next week.

Later in the summer, the British Open and the Olympics in Paris are also waiting.
