Turkish authorities have arrested more than 470 people following anti-Syrian riots in several cities.

The violence broke out on Sunday after a Syrian man was accused of harassing a child.

Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya writes on the X platform that the 474 people were arrested after "provocative actions" against Syrians in Turkey.

The country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calls the violence "unacceptable" and accuses the Turkish opposition of fueling the tensions.

The violence has also spread to northern Syria, where seven people who participated in protests on Monday are reported to have died in clashes with guards at Turkish positions, according to the London-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory (SOHR).

It is not known whether the protesters were armed.
