Sales in the daily goods trade increased by 2.4 percent in September, compared to the same month last year, according to the industry organization Svensk Dagligvaruhandel's Daily Goods Index.

The inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages was 2.1 percent in September, according to the SCB's Consumer Price Index. The price-adjusted sales trend in the daily goods trade is estimated to be 0.3 percent.

"The price development rate for food is starting to stabilize at a lower level, but the price level itself is still significantly higher than before the period of high inflation, due to the fact that cost levels throughout the entire food chain are at significantly higher levels," says Karin Brynell, CEO of Svensk Dagligvaruhandel in a press release.
