It takes the longest time to sell an apartment

Despite several interest rate cuts, it's now taking longer and longer to sell a home. However, the differences are significant across the country. In Kronoberg County, it takes four times as long to sell an apartment compared to Stockholm, where it goes the fastest.

The housing site Hemnet has compiled the sales times for villas and apartments across the country. The average sales time during the third quarter now amounts to 35 days for villas and 29 days for apartments.

This is an increase of three and five days, respectively, compared to the same period in 2023. Increased caution among both home swappers and banks lending money is believed to be the reason for the lead times now rising, according to Hemnet.

It's quickest, not unexpectedly, in metropolitan regions like Stockholm, where apartments are sold on average after 21 days and villas after 28 days.

It's tougher in Kronoberg County. There, it took an average of 48 days to sell a villa, while for apartments, the sales time was almost three months.
