Several people at the call center that sold the Social Democrats' criticized lottery tickets to pensioners can be linked to organized crime, writes Svenska Dagbladet.

According to the newspaper's sources, the company has had a high staff turnover and many criminals have worked there over the years, including individuals who appear in verdicts or investigations related to organized crime in Sweden.

"This is very serious information," says the Social Democrats' party secretary Tobias Baudin in a written comment to SvD.

The company has assignments for a number of large Swedish clients in addition to Kombispel, and it is not clear which clients the mentioned individuals have worked with, according to the newspaper.

On Thursday, the Social Democrats stopped the telephone sales of lottery tickets via the company that Kombispel, the party's lottery company, had hired. This was after employees testified about questionable sales methods targeting the elderly.

There has been a storm around Kombispel since Dagens Nyheter on Thursday revealed the aggressive sales methods. After the publication, the Social Democrats stopped the telephone sales.

The S-leadership has received harsh internal criticism for not having acted forcefully enough after the revelation. On Friday, Kombispel's CEO was fired and several people have left the board after the party's request to do so.

A new CEO has already been appointed. As of Monday, Jonas Nygren (S), former chairman of the municipal council in Sundbyberg, will be the new head of Kombispel, the party reports to TV4 News.
