The Israeli military has apologized for killing three soldiers from the Lebanese army on Sunday in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the Israeli military says it does not act, or fight, against the Lebanese regular army. And it apologizes for these "unwanted circumstances".

Israel said, when it happened, that it had attacked a truck that was a transport for Hezbollah. The day before, a vehicle had been seen in the same area that was believed to be carrying weapons for the Iran-backed group.

But the attacked truck with the soldiers belonged to the Lebanese army.
