Andreas Kramer struck with a new season's best during the Continental Tour competition in Turku, Finland, on Tuesday evening – and was not far from his Swedish record.

I'm very pleased, but I would have liked to run a bit faster, he says.

Andreas Kramer won the 800-metre race with a time of 1:44.65 and was not far from his personal record, also the Swedish record, from 2020, which stands at 1:44.47.

I'm very pleased with the time. I would have liked to run a bit better, but it's a good race, says the Swede in the organiser's TV broadcast.

Kramer looked strong throughout the race and on the home stretch, no one could pass, although the Irishman Mark English, who finished second, came close. Benjamin Robert, France, finished third.

I had to fall over the finish line, says Kramer about the finish.

Larsson with a concern

Sprinter Henrik Larsson was also in action in Turku, but the Swede – who finished third in his 100-metre semi-final – chose to withdraw from the final.

Nothing serious has happened. I got a concern, which I've felt before, in my attempt and withdrew from the final to avoid risking anything, he says to TT.

The concern should not, however, become a worry ahead of the forthcoming Olympics.

I really don't think so, absolutely not, says Larsson.

Åskag third in the triple jump

In the triple jump, Maja Åskag delivered a fine performance. Her 14.06 was enough for a third-place finish in the competition – and would have been a season's best if it weren't for the fact that the tailwind was too strong to count.

Shanieka Ricketts, Jamaica, won with 14.17, and Dariya Derkach, Italy, finished second with 14.08.

In the 3,000-metre steeplechase, Emil Blomberg finished third in 8:21.40, after being overtaken just before the finish line by second-placed Ben Buckingham, Australia. Abraham Seme, Ethiopia, won.
