Kristersson: A security zone does not solve everything

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) is now commenting on the police's decision to introduce a security zone in the Hageby district in Norrköping – the first in the country since the law was introduced at the end of April.

He sees it as part of the work to combat gang crime.

The security zone, also known as a visitation zone, is being introduced after two men were shot dead in an apartment in the area during the night to Monday.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer welcomes the police's use of the new law.

He emphasizes that it is entirely up to the police to decide whether and when security zones should be used and how it should be balanced against other measures and tools.

The effect remains to be seen, Strömmer says. But he emphasizes that the purpose is to increase the sense of security and safety for residents.

How do you view the risk of discrimination and residents feeling unfairly controlled?

Strömmer has no idea how many more visitation zones may be set up this year.
