Swedish large companies have been called up to the Foreign Ministry since the European Commission alerted about suspected transactions, writes Dagens Nyheter. The companies deny that they have deliberately circumvented Russian sanctions.
According to DN, it was in the spring that the Commission, while working to ensure that the sanctions against Russia are followed, discovered through customs registers from Russian authorities that European companies may have exported sanctioned goods to the regime – in violation of the EU's sanctions package.
The registers included large Swedish companies: Atlas Copco, Ericsson, Volvo, SKF, and Sandvik.
Sweden's sanctions coordinator Lars Schmidt therefore recently called up the identified companies to the Foreign Ministry and tells DN:
Several of the companies are internally investigating the information from the Commission.
Sandvik does not rule out that their products were sold on to Russia via other parties that the company does not control or know about.
Atlas Copco says it is investigating the matter.
"We note, however, that there is currently insufficient information to verify that it concerns goods that a company in the Atlas Copco Group has manufactured, sold, or exported", writes Atlas Copco to DN.
