Sweden's gross national product (GNP) increased by 0.1 percent in May compared to April, according to a preliminary so-called GNP indicator from the Statistics Sweden (SCB).

Analysts had on average expected a growth of 0.4 percent in April compared to the previous month, according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg.

In March, Sweden's GNP contracted by 0.7 percent compared to the previous month.

Compared to the same month a year earlier, the Swedish economy decreased by 0.2 percent in May, according to SCB.
