In Friday's verdict, it is established that most of the so-called "mobility package" is legal, despite several countries in Eastern Europe taking the matter to court to stop it. However, the court strikes down the rules that require trucks to return to their home country at least every eighth week.
This is done with reference to the fact that EU lawmakers were unable to refer to sufficient information about the necessity of it.
This is not appreciated by the Swedish S.
"The EU court is supporting wage dumping on Swedish roads. It's bloody awful", writes Johan Danielsson in a comment via SMS.
"Swedish roads need better conditions for drivers and more controls of cheating and exploitation. The return requirement was an important tool in that fight", believes the S member, who was strongly engaged in the issue when the EU Parliament and EU Council of Ministers pushed through the new rules in 2020.
