Lennartsson was substituted off as Hammarby fell

It became a gloomy afternoon for Hammarby. First, the defender Stina Lennartsson was forced off injured in the top Damallsvenskan match against Kristianstad. Then the away team turned it around and won – after a dream goal by Hlin Eiriksdottir.

Hammarby had the chance to again pass Häcken up to second place in the Damallsvenskan top, when the team on Sunday faced fourth-placed Kristianstad.

It didn't turn out that way.

Instead, it became a double misfortune in the form of a loss – and a serious injury.

Lennartsson was substituted

It was in the 22nd minute that disaster struck for right-back Stina Lennartsson. After a home job, the 27-year-old suddenly sat down and clutched her hamstring.

After a brief discussion with the team's doctor, it was decided that Lennartsson could not continue, and had to limp off. A serious setback for Hammarby, which in just over a week will qualify for the Champions League.

And the injuries were not the only misfortune that Hammarby would encounter.

"An in-throw variant"

Ten minutes later, Kristianstad equalized, after a sloppy own goal by team captain Alice Carlsson. And in the second half, the Skåne team completed the turnaround when Hlin Eiriksdottir scored a dream goal, and angled the ball into the far corner.

It's an in-throw variant we sometimes run. And it felt like they had analyzed it and followed the players who ran around me. Then I just felt like I could wait and try, and it worked well this time, says Eiriksdottir to Viaplay.

The match ended 2–1 to Kristianstad, which thereby narrowed the gap to Hammarby in the table.

At the same time, two more matches were played. The meeting between Djurgården and Vittsjö ended goallessly, and Piteå won 3–1 against bottom-placed Trelleborg.
