The investigative work we have conducted since July 14 has now resulted in us having a person who is detained on probable grounds, suspected of both murders, says prosecutor Magnus Pettersson.

The man has been detained in his absence.

This is because we have not been able to find him, says Pettersson.

The man is contesting the detention request, according to his lawyer Lars Andén.

At present, I do not intend to comment further, he says.

Neither Pettersson nor Andén wants to comment on whether the man has been involved in the investigation earlier. A total of three people have been reasonably suspected of the murders, but were later released since there were no grounds for detention.

A man in his 20s has been detained for aiding and abetting the murders. Pettersson has requested that the man be remanded in custody, which the suspect has opposed. A remand hearing will therefore be held later on Friday.

It was on July 14 this year that two people were found dead in a burned-out car in an industrial area in Malmö. Shortly afterwards, two Britons were reported missing in Sweden. The final identification was delayed. A month later, Pettersson announced that it concerned the two Britons.
