"Media from all over the world are writing about us"

The STCC season starts with city racing in Gothenburg. Focus: electric cars. This is the only way to make racing relevant, says CEO Micke Bern.

I holy week, the STCC season starts with a city lap in Gothenburg.

In focus: electric cars.

2023 was a dark year for STCC. The entire season had to be cancelled since the delivery of the new electric cars was delayed. But now everything is in place. And when the season starts in central Gothenburg this weekend, all eyes will be on the twelve electric cars.

He is most proud of the environmental profile that STCC can now show.

Clear environmental focus

The electric cars also make it possible to get closer to the audience and run city laps in larger cities. The premiere is decided on a track built in central Gothenburg.

A 625-meter track has been built where the drivers will compete in a format similar to ski sprint competitions. The competition will ultimately be decided in a pure final.

Later in the season, there will also be a heat in central Helsingborg. And other cities have already expressed interest in investigating the possibility of joining the program next season.

The new regulations also pose a major challenge for the drivers. Tobias Brink has been a top driver in recent seasons.

No gearbox

In the past, drivers had to paddle behind the wheel to shift gears. But the new cars have no gearbox.

And the new tires also change the conditions.

And Micke Bern is hopeful.

With the new electric cars that have more power than ever before in STCC, 550 horsepower, and new tires, it could be racing to the audience's taste.

June 8-9: Gothenburg
