Honshirs. It is listed as one of the world's worst weeds – and now it is, according to the Board of Agriculture, on the advance in Sweden, reports DN.
The weed currently occurs mostly in southern Sweden, but is also found in Svealand, on the west coast, Öland and Gotland.
If it goes really badly, it can halve a harvest. It can also mean that certain crops cannot be grown for a long time, says Olof Pålsson, crop advisor in Borgeby at HIR, the Federation of Swedish Farmers' Associations' individual advisory service in Skåne to the newspaper.
Honshirs can be combated with manual picking or with certain weed killers.
But it is only a matter of time before it becomes resistant to weed killers, says Olof Pålsson.
The UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation, FAO, classifies honshirs as the world's third worst weed.
