"Food prices usually fall in September", says Caroline Neander, price statistician at SCB in a press release.

According to SCB, the average prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.6 percent in September compared to August. Seen from a yearly perspective, prices increased by 2.1 percent compared to September last year.

"The price increases were largest for lemons, fresh berries, and oranges. At the same time, prices fell for parsley, cauliflower, and yellow onions", says Neander further in the press release.

Compared to September last year, it is the prices of tomatoes, pears, and yellow onions that have fallen the most. On the other hand, it has gone the opposite way for goods within coffee, tea, and cocoa – where the price increase is the largest, 7.2 percent compared to the same month in 2023.

"Notably, non-alcoholic beverages contribute to the price increases this month with an increase of 5.5 percent compared to the same month last year", says Carl Mårtensson, price statistician at SCB in the press release.
