Tesla and X CEO Musk is being sued by the prosecutor in the state of Pennsylvania because he is believed to be running an illegal lottery for registered voters. On Thursday, a judge in Philadelphia had ordered all parties in the case to appear in court, but Musk never showed up.
On Wednesday evening, however, Musk's lawyers decided to submit a motion to have the case transferred to a federal court, since it concerns federal legislation.
Despite the case being taken to court, Elon Musk continues with his lottery. Around the same time he was summoned to court in Pennsylvania, he wrote on X and congratulated yet another new winner in the million-dollar lottery, according to BBC.
The Justice Department had previously warned Musk that the lottery may violate a federal ban on paying people to register as voters.
The background is Musk's campaign where registered voters can win a million dollars, equivalent to over ten million kronor, if they sign a declaration supporting freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. The purpose is said to be to get Republicans to register and vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
