Tennis star Rafael Nadal is abstaining from the US Open. He announced this on the X platform on Wednesday evening.
"I will miss the electric and special evenings in New York, but I don't think I will be able to give it my all on the court this time," he writes.
The US Open will be the third Grand Slam tournament that Nadal misses this season. He has only played the French Championships.
The Spanish tennis icon also participated in the Olympic Games tennis, both in singles and doubles.
The US Open starts on August 26.
