The parents of the vinegar-poisoned girl in Skåne are still being held in custody after the main hearing in the court of appeal concluded on Thursday.

We will not make a decision today. It will not be until next week when we have deliberations that we may make a decision on the custody issue, says the court's chairman Lars Lindblad to TT.

According to Skånska Dagbladet, prosecutor Ingegerd Jigin presented a new motive during her final argument: that the girl's parents were driven by money.

By presenting the girl as ill, they could claim financial compensation.

Ingegerd Jigin has called for a harsher sentence.

When it comes to the penalty, no penalty is severe enough for something like this, but we have frameworks to adhere to, she said during her final argument.

The parents' respective lawyers have argued that the indictment should be dismissed in its entirety and that their clients should be released.

It was in early March that the district court sentenced the parents to eight years' imprisonment. They were convicted of giving their daughter life-threatening amounts of vinegar, holding her captive, and a range of other serious crimes.

Both parents and the prosecutor appealed the verdict to the court of appeal.
