The Liberals want parents who travel with their children to countries that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against visiting to be punishable, reports SR Ekot.

If one has responsibility for a child, it is not reasonable to expose one's child to danger by taking it to a country where there is a warning, says Joar Forssell, foreign policy spokesperson for the party.

He wants to see the possibility of both imprisonment and fines.

Erica Wide, press secretary to Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (The Moderate Party), writes in a comment to Ekot that such behavior can already be punishable today, as it can, for example, involve reckless endangerment or child abduction. No work is currently underway to expand criminalization.
