Northvolt: New Death Not Linked to the Company

Another employee at Northvolt's battery factory in Skellefteå has died between work shifts, according to the police. The new death is said to have occurred in July and has no connection to Northvolt. The police are investigating three previous unexplained deaths among the employees.

On Tuesday, Northvolt's communications chief Matti Kataja confirms in a press release that another employee has died. However, he also says that the new death is not related to the company.

"I have now received confirmation from the police that the death referred to by the police is a colleague who died in a tragic drowning accident during their free time, outside of work, in July," he writes in the press release.

Matti Kataja also believes that the police should have been clear about this in their press release about the death to avoid speculation. This is because the information creates anxiety and leads to further rumor-mongering.

The police have been investigating three unexplained deaths that have affected three different men who worked at the factory.

The three previous deaths occurred in the employees' homes within a period of six months. In January, a 33-year-old father of three was found dead in his bed after an evening shift at Northvolt. A month later, a 19-year-old, who also worked at the factory, was found dead in his bed. In June, a man in his 60s was found dead on his balcony after work.
