A 35-year-old man has died in a parachuting accident at an airfield outside Västerås.
We are on the scene together with the rescue service and ambulance, said Mats Länn, regional police commander, who was alerted at 2:52 pm on Saturday.
There is no suspicion of crime.
The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, said Anna Oscarson, communications officer at the Swedish Parachuting Association, earlier on Saturday.
According to what I've heard, he swung along the ground and then it's easy to get too much speed and hit hard, she says.
The association has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The relatives have been informed.
