A pensioner in Lund is to pay back 913,000 kronor to the Pensions Authority in incorrectly paid pension and housing allowance, 766,000 kronor in guaranteed pension and 147,000 kronor in housing allowance, reports Sydsvenskan.

The Authority has reviewed the pensioner's place of residence over seven years, from spring 2016 to spring 2023, and concluded that too much of that time was spent in Kosovo, resulting in the loss of entitlement to benefits. During the same period, there is no notification to Swedish authorities of residence abroad.

Among the evidence is, for example, bank statements showing that the bank card was exclusively used in Kosovo during the reviewed period.

The right to guaranteed pension and housing allowance is lost for stays of more than one year abroad – and if it is deemed that one has their actual residence abroad, even if one is formally registered in Sweden.
