Netanyahu: Robot attack will cost the Houthis dearly

According to the Israeli military, the robot crash-landed in an "open area" and no one was injured. The robot is said to have disintegrated in the air after several Israeli attempts to shoot it down, reports The Times of Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is warning the Houthi movement after the group took responsibility for this morning's attack.

They should know by now that the price for all attempts to harm us is very high, he says in connection with a cabinet meeting, according to the AFP news agency.

"Fear and panic"

Parts of the Israeli air defense missiles that were launched to intercept the robot also fell in central Israel, including over a train station in Modiin between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Falling air defense also caused several fires in open terrain, including near the city of Lod, reports the Israeli Haaretz.

In a televised speech, the military spokesperson for the Iran-backed Houthi movement, Yahya Saree, claims that the robot penetrated Israeli and American air defense and caused "fear and panic" in Israel.

According to Saree, the target of the ballistic robot was a military facility in Israeli Jaffa.

Threatens more

The Houthi movement has repeatedly sent drones and robots towards Israel since the war in Gaza began, but almost all have been stopped over the Red Sea. On Sunday, the Lebanese news agency al-Mayadeen reports, citing a high-ranking source in Yemen, that the Houthis are threatening further attacks.

As long as Israel's attacks in Gaza and the West Bank continue, Israel should expect the worst, says the source.

In July, one person was killed and several were injured when a projectile fired by the Houthis reached Tel Aviv. Israel responded with extensive airstrikes against Houthi targets in the port city of Hodeidah in Yemen, resulting in three dead and nearly 90 injured.
