Elfsborg was also drawn against Nice, Braga, and Qarabag at home. Away, the Borås team will face, in addition to Tottenham, AZ Alkmaar, Galatasaray, and Athletic Bilbao.
Malmö got, on paper, slightly easier opponents from the pot with the top-seeded teams. There, they will meet Rangers at home and Slavia Prague away.
Additionally, they will host Olympiakos, Galatasaray, and Twente. Away, they will face Ferencvaros, Qarabag, and Besiktas.
Just like in the Champions League, the previous system with four-team groups and double matches has been scrapped. Instead, the competition will be played in a group stage with 36 teams, where each team will meet eight different opponents. Four of the matches will be played at home and four away.
When the group stage is over, the top eight teams will advance directly to the round of 16. Teams in places 9–24 will play a playoff in a double match to advance to the round of 16.
In the Conference League, 36 teams will also participate, but instead of eight matches, only six will be played.
Djurgården, the only Swedish representative in the tournament, will have to plan for away trips to Austria (Lask Linz), Wales (The New Saints), and Iceland (Vikingur Reykjavik). At home at the Tele2 Arena, they will face matches against Legia Warszawa, Vitória Guimarães, and Panathinaikos.
