The Russian lower house has voted with a large majority in favor of a budget proposal that means Russia's defense spending will increase by around 30 percent next year.
Only one vote was cast against the proposal in the Duma.
Russia is already allocating enormous resources to the war of invasion in Ukraine. Russia has already previously increased military spending to levels not seen since the Soviet era.
The bill is to be processed in a second round on November 14.
