Söderberg storms to victory – leads overwhelmingly

Who can stop golfer Sebastian Söderberg in the Scandinavian Mixed? Apparently only Söderberg himself. The 33-year-old is playing his cards right, which speaks volumes for him getting to celebrate his second victory on the European Tour on Sunday. "I have nothing to complain about," says Söderberg, who is leading by a whole eight strokes.

Who can stop golfer Sebastian Söderberg in the Scandinavian Mixed?

Probably only Söderberg himself. The 33-year-old is playing his cards right, which suggests that he will celebrate his second European Tour win on Sunday.

Would anyone take the chance on "moving day" of the European Tour's Scandinavian Mixed at Vasatorps GK and rush up the results list to challenge a 33-year-old golfer from Gothenburg?

The answer was no. Sebastian Söderberg had no plans to leave his leading position – on the contrary, the 33-year-old accelerated away from the rest of the field.

The Swede shot 66 strokes on Saturday and with 18 holes left to play on Sunday, Söderberg leads by eight strokes from Calum Hill, Scotland.

Can anything stop him from taking his second European Tour win?

Söderberg has been leading the tournament since his 63-round – nine under par – on Thursday and on Saturday, it was six under par. Overall, the 33-year-old is at –21.

He has shown brilliant golf all week in Skåne, but after 49 consecutive holes without a bogey, Söderberg's first blunder came in his scorecard. On hole 14, he noted a bogey after the pin had just missed the hole.

It was just a temporary glitch in the machinery. He responded with a birdie (his 18th for the week, plus two eagles) on the following hole and followed up with three consecutive pars for –6 for the day.

Alexander Björk is second-best among the blue-and-yellow players, tied for third place, but is nine strokes behind Söderberg. The US pro has not given up on winning, but acknowledges that it may be difficult.

It was rainy and windy during the Swedish tour event where men and women compete against each other. Linn Grant, who won the tournament in 2022, is the best Swedish player at –10 and tied for 11th place.

Sunday is expected to be windy in northwestern Skåne, but the forecast should not give the competitors too much hope. On the contrary, it seems.

How does he load up for Sunday?
