It was just after 10 am on Thursday morning that the police were alerted about a shooting at the Israeli military technology company Elbit Systems.

A boy under 15 years old was arrested after the incident, suspected of attempted murder and serious weapons offenses.

"A serious incident has occurred outside our premises today. We are all safe and no one has been injured," says CEO Tobias Wennberg in a written comment.

Elbit Systems was subjected to an attempted bombing as recently as June.

Connected

P4 Göteborg reports, citing a "police source with good insight", that the police suspect that the acts against the company are connected to the shootings at Israel's embassy in Stockholm and that Iran may be involved.

We are not close to being able to link Iran to the events against Elbit in Gothenburg. We are not getting any further than higher up in the serious criminal activity in Sweden, the police source tells P4.

The theory is still that the events are part of a proxy war where Iran uses criminal gangs to carry out acts in Sweden, according to the radio.

The Security Service, which has previously confirmed that Iran uses criminals in Sweden to carry out violent acts to harm Jewish and Israeli interests, states that they are working closely with the police in the cases.

"Enhanced surveillance"

According to information to Sveriges Radio, the police were already on site when the shooting occurred. It is something that the police do not want to comment on, but press spokesperson August Brandt confirms that there has been extra surveillance at Elbit Systems.

We have had surveillance and supervision at several different objects around our region, this object is one of them, he says.

According to Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M), the government is following the development closely.

We are, of course, in close contact with the Police Authority, he says in connection with the EU's Justice Ministers' meeting in Luxembourg.

After the 7th of October last year and Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel, Swedish authorities have stepped up surveillance when it comes to Israeli and Jewish objects in Sweden.

Elbit Systems was established as a privately owned Israeli company in the 1960s and is today one of the world's largest companies in defense technology, with around 40 companies and operations in several countries.

Elbit delivers, among other things, drones to the Israeli military, but is also active in, among other things, the aerospace industry, signal intelligence systems, and communication systems.

Totalt, Elbit Systems has over 20,000 employees.

In Sweden, with its headquarters in Gothenburg, Elbit Systems has contracts with, for example, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV).
