In Friday's CHL premiere, Skellefteå won against Austrian Salzburg with 4–3 after a late deciding goal by Andreas Johnson. On Sunday, it was a loss with 3–2 away against German Straubing after penalties.

A match that started in the same way as against Salzburg. Namely, with talent Zeb Forsfjäll giving the team the lead. The 19-year-old directed a rebound, which meant 1–0. The lead was extended in the second period by Andreas Johnson, who, just back from the penalty box, got a breakaway and made it 2–0.

Then came a German reduction. Adrian Klein received and pushed the puck in during numerical superiority. Straubing hunted for an equalizer and got a golden opportunity with one man more for five minutes after an elbowing from Lukas Vesterlund. Cole Fonstad thanked for it, threw himself forward, and equalized to 2–2.

The subsequent overtime was then goalless before Straubing drew the longest straw and won after penalties. JC Lipon stood for the deciding goal.

On the other hand, Sunday was more fun for Färjestad. After the goal feast in the CHL premiere – 5–0 away against Pelicans – it was a new big win. At home against Austrian Klagenfurt, the team won with 6–2. This in a match where homecomer Oskar Steen got to shine with his two goals in numerical superiority.
