Small with a giant upset - beat Real Madrid

Lille defeated the reigning Champions League champions Real Madrid 1-0 and broke the Spaniards' 14-match unbeaten streak. The big scapegoat became Eduardo Camavinga, who caused the penalty that led to the goal.

The lead goal came just before halftime, when Camavinga stopped a free kick with his arm. After a VAR review, the referee pointed to the penalty spot and Canadian Jonathan David was as calm as could be.

Real pressed for an equalizing goal, but Lille held up well. However, it got really sweaty for the French team in the final stages of the match.

Right-back Tiago Santos made a goal-line clearance in the 86th minute, and in the next sequence, goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier made a fantastic save on Antonio Rüdiger's header. But that was as close as Los Blancos came.

Broke the streak

Thus, Lille put an end to Real Madrid's streak of 14 consecutive CL matches without a loss. Gabriel Gudmundsson, who was selected for the Swedish national team on Wednesday, played the entire match for Lille and delivered a strong performance.

Lille was not the only surprise of the round. At home on Villa Park, Aston Villa defeated the German giant Bayern Munich 1-0. Bayern's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was the main culprit.

Neuer, who was far out of his own penalty area as usual, misjudged a Villa attack and saw Jhon Durán cleverly lift the ball over him and into the goal.

Turned it around despite red card

Juventus fell behind twice away against Leipzig and also had to play the last half hour with one man down after Michele Di Gregorio was sent off. Yet, the Turin club managed to win 3-2 thanks to two goals from Dusan Vlahović.

In Lisbon, Benfica went all out and won 4-0 against Atlético Madrid. Liverpool, on the other hand, had no problem sweeping aside Bologna at home on Anfield, winning comfortably 2-0.

Benfica, Juventus, Aston Villa, and Liverpool are among the seven teams that have six points after two rounds.
