Smooth Sailing on Asian Markets

It was upwards for leading stock market indices in Asia after a few hours of trading on Friday. The brokers surfed on the strong gains, record levels, on Wall Street the previous day.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index had risen by 2.1 percent and the broader Topix by 1.5 percent.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was up 1.4 percent and Kospi in South Korea up by 0.8 percent.

In China, it was mixed with the composite indices in Shanghai and Shenzhen at minus 0.2 and minus 0.4 percent, respectively.
