The space company Space X has been commissioned to build the spacecraft that will bring the International Space Station ISS down to Earth for its final rest, according to the US space agency Nasa.
The ISS, whose first parts were launched in 1998, is expected to need to be scrapped by 2030. Parts of the material the space station is constructed from will burn up on entry into the atmosphere, but large parts are expected to land in the Pacific Ocean.
The contract is worth approximately 5.9 billion kronor.
